PROJECT 4

Proces innovation

CAROLINE

By Wrangler

This summer semester, we practically applied the circular model to a real case: upcycling old jeans trousers into short jean jackets. We worked within the DNA of the chosen brand Wrangler and we developed and sold the jacket through a self-made webshop. Key aspects for the research included market analysis, product analysis, design, production optimisation and cost analysis.

The goal was to create an innovative circular product that could be mass-produced, with all processes and data well documented.

Mission en vision

Our mission at Caroline is to embrace diversity and sustainability by creating beautiful jean jackets for plus-size women, made from recycled denim. We strive to promote self-confidence and self-esteem by offering fashion that is not only stylish and comfortable, but also has a positive impact on the environment. At Caroline, we believe in celebrating individuality and promoting a world where all women can feel beautiful, powerful and environmentally conscious.

Our vision with Caroline is to build awareness and grow our business within the aspect of plussize clothing. Currently we have a single jean jacket on offer and this is something we want to expand. Our goal is to make our business flourish within Europe and make our Webshop global in a span of 5 years.

Reflection

During the past 12 weeks' process innovation project, I enthusiastically focused on creating the technical file using Adobe Illustrator. This was a challenging but at the same time very instructive experience. I found that I was able to significantly improve my skills in Adobe Illustrator, resulting in a detailed technical file.

In the beginning, it was sometimes difficult to find the right balance between technical accuracy and visual presentation, but by regularly asking for feedback and experimenting with different techniques, I learned a lot. I discovered how important it is to be patient
During the project, I also collaborated with different team members, which strengthened my communication skills and gave me insight into the different aspects of process innovation. This collaboration made me realise how crucial it is to be flexible in my approach.

Besides the technical aspects of Adobe Illustrator, I also learned how to plan and organise my work efficiently, which was essential to stay within the set deadlines. These organisational skills will definitely come in handy in future projects.
Over the past 2 years, I have found out that working with Adobe Illustrator is really my thing. This experience has not only made me more confident in my abilities, but has also motivated me to keep learning and improving myself in this field.
